| Mr. James E. Padgett, a Washington, D.C. attorney, lived with his wife Helen until her death in 1914. A consoling friend of Mr. Padgett suggested that he knew a psychic medium who could contact his beloved wife. They went to see her and she gave Mr. Padgett a message; that his wife was present and that she wanted to write to him through means of automatic writing and that James was a naturally gifted psychic, as well. The bereaved Mr. Padgett went home, got out a piece of paper and a pencil and sat down to recieve a letter from his departed wife. At first he got fish hooks and hangers then finally he was able to make out a message signed, Helen. She told him of her love for him and about her new life in the spirit world. Soon he began to recieve messages from his grandmother and father and mother as well. Then one day his grandmother told him that Jesus of Nazareth wanted to write him a message. The message that followed encouraged him "to pray for Gods Love" signed Jesus. Mr. Padgett could hardly believe it could come from Jesus and threw it out. But as time went on eventually he became conviced that this information did not and could not come from his own subconscious mind. For in fact he did no thinking or writing and didn't even know what was written until he read it later. Over the course of the next nine years Padgett recieved over 2500 automatic messages, many from Jesus of Nazareth and numerous other spirits in various stages of progress.
